Moscow Victory Parade: Military bargains
Saturday's Victory parade in Moscow gave Russian president Putin the chance to not only commemorate his country's WW2 victory over the Nazis, bang the nationalistic drum and raise the national spirit but also to showcase Russian military power. Despite, or because of, Russia's dismal economy, the endeavor was the biggest military spectacle ever staged, what with more than 16,000 troops, 200 military planes/helicopters and a big variety of high-tech hardware, from tanks to ballistic missiles, taking part.
